A Commuter’s Dream: Heybike Cityrun E-Bike Review
Heybike is a company dedicated to providing high-quality electric bikes for everyone. Their electric bikes are designed to provide a comfortable ride with plenty of power and range to keep you going. They use modern technology to create a bike that is efficient, reliable, and durable. They have a wide range of models and styles to fit any rider’s needs, from commuters to mountain bikers.
Their bikes have a long battery life and are easy to charge, making them a great choice for those who want to reduce their environmental impact. Heybike electric bikes are a great option for those looking for an environmentally friendly and reliable mode of transportation.
The Heybike Cityrun is one of their best-selling electric bikes and is one of the better bikes for commuting thanks to some safety and security features that really stand out, such as the taillight on the bike that flashes when you put the brakes on and not only that, the taillight actually has flashing turn signals.
Another notable feature is the Android and IOS feature that connects via Bluetooth from your phone to the bike. Something you don’t see from other electric bike manufacturers but you do get with the Cityrun is that the bike comes with a full-size toolkit, a really nice extra.
Putting this bike together is pretty much the same as most others and is fairly straightforward and shouldn’t be too problematic for most people and should take about an hour. Another nice feature of the Cityrun is that it comes with an adjustable handlebar stem making it easy to adjust so you can find the most comfortable position for you, and the headlight on the Cityrun is rather unique, it has a sensor that will automatically turn the light on when it starts to get dark.
The LCD display is pretty standard, not too big but offers all the info you need and gets the job done. This bike comes with a heavy-duty aluminum rear cargo rack that can handle up to 120 lbs and front and rear fenders. One noticeable upgrade to the Cityrun is the RSX Hydraulic Disc Brakes front and rear, we mention often that we prefer hydraulic disc brakes over mechanical ones simply because they offer superior braking power.
The Cityrun is equipped with a 500w motor, along with yet another upgrade to this bike is the 48V 15Ah battery that tucks away nicely into the frame. Top speed on the Cityrun is around 20mph. Something else to take note of is that Heybike has things set up so you can’t unlock the speed settings like you can on other bikes, not sure why but sounds like they just simply wanted to keep this bike legal for a class 2 e-bike.
This bike also offers a nice smooth and comfortable ride thanks to the adjustable handlebars that allow you to ride in a more upright position which helps to reduce rider fatigue.
The Cityrun comes with a reasonably soft and comfortable seat but if you’re looking for something a little better you can always change it out with something more to your liking. We keep saying it because there are so many, yet another upgraded feature of the Cityrun is the front hydraulic fork suspension that can be adjusted and can be locked out if you like and works extremely well.
The Cityrun comes equipped with a thumb throttle and Shimano 7-speed shifter and Shimano Tourney derailleur that you will see on many similar-style bikes. The bike with battery weighs about 62 lbs which really isn’t too heavy for this type of bike, the bike also has 4 mounting points on the front for a basket or other accessories.
A nice heavy-duty kickstand and quick-release front wheel are standard equipment with the Cityrun and comes in handy just in case you need to remove it and put the bike in your car or SUV.
