We are talking about the QuietKat Villager Urban Step-Through Electric Commuter Bike. The Villager is a crossover all-terrain electric bike that is really quite agile and made for cruising city streets but is still tough enough to handle trails. This bike also has enough power to get you up moderately steep hills while packing large loads easily. This is one of the most versatile electric step-through commuter bikes on the market today, it’s perfect for bike paths, dirt roads, urban streets, and just about anything else.

The Villager is equipped with a SRAM 7-Speed gear drivetrain that can also be converted to a single-speed for simplicity and maintenance. The heavy-duty welded rear rack is as solid as it gets and can even handle taking your little ones out for a ride.

The improved 500W direct drive motor which actually peaks out at a little more lets you climb moderately steep hills with no trouble and will even get you through deep mud and sand.

The Villager uses a fast swap 48V battery that weighs 10lbs and you can easily change it out in the field or you can upgrade to a larger battery for even better range. The range on this battery is pretty good thanks to it being paired with the strong 500W motor and should satisfy most riders’ needs.

The QuietKat Villager is outfitted with big Kenda 26″ x 3″ street tires that have a fairly aggressive tread pattern that is designed for the road but will also allow the rider to go off onto trails and paths that aren’t too terribly rough. These fat tires on this bike perform well and handle corners surprisingly smoothly.

Another feature of this bike that makes it so comfortable to ride is the front fork with 100mm of travel. The handlebars are also nicely equipped with soft rubber grips that do a good job of keeping your hands where they need to be while riding. There is a thumb throttle on the left-hand side and on the right is the shifter that works nicely with the SRAM 7-speed gear system.

The LCD Display on the Villager is kind of plain, a very bare-bones type of thing but it does give you everything you need and gets the job done.

Tektro Mechanical Disc Brakes are what get this bike stopped. The rotors on this bike are bigger than what you would normally see on a bike like this, they are 203mm in size and provide smooth controlled braking. A better option, however, might be a hydraulic braking system but the overall brake performance on this bike is very good.

With the Villager, however, they have taken a lot of the same sturdy features found on their off-road bikes and incorporated them into the Villager. Things like the heavy-duty rear cargo rack that is welded directly to the frame, the 100mm travel front fork, heavy-duty metal fenders, and even the 203mm rotor disc brakes along with a host of other well-made components all add to the Villager’s robust versatility. 

The low step-through design of the Villager is another nice feature of this commuter, it is ideal for slightly shorter riders or like me, anyone who might be struggling with mobility issues, and bigger heavier riders will also find this bike comfortable to ride. 

All-in-all, the Villager is a well-built step-through electric commuter with many quality name-brand components that add to the overall performance of the bike. This bike also offers an impressive 325 lb payload that gives you the opportunity to haul a lot of gear that most other similar type electric bikes just can’t do.

The Villager is priced higher compared to a lot of similar electric commuter bikes on the market but in this case, in our opinion at least, you really do get what you pay for, some may argue that point but it really is up to how each person interprets cost vs value.
