Magicycle Step-Over Lightweight Commuter E-Bike Review

Magicycle is a relative newcomer to the electric bike arena. I guess if you had to describe Magicycle products in a nutshell, affordable, energy-efficient, and eco-friendly would do that quite nicely. The inspiration behind this popular brand came from a desire to design and develop bikes that anyone could benefit from and enjoy.
In fact, it was Wade’s father, Wade Wei being the founder of Magicycle, who would ride with Wade through the mountains of his hometown, something they both deeply loved doing together until during one visit with his father Wade discovered that he wasn’t able to ride any-more because of arthritis in his knees.
So Wade set out on a mission to design and build a bike that would allow his father to ride again and since Wade already had the expertise, he majored in power and engineering at university, he quickly found the parts needed to convert his father’s bike into an electric bike.
As soon as Wade had his father’s bike working the way it should they both spent a day riding like they used to do. Wade’s father was so impressed with the bike Wade had built for him that he called the experience “magical”.
That experience with his father is why Wade decided to make it his mission to bring the same experience to others and from then on Wade focused on developing the best electric bikes he could and Magicycle was born.
The Magicycle Step-Over Lightweight Commuter E-Bike uses a belt drive system that is much quieter than a traditional chain drive that is used on most electric bikes and makes for a smooth quiet ride. Belt drive systems are easier to install and don’t require any lubrication and are easy to maintain and repair.
Because this bike uses a belt drive system the belt will stretch a little helping the transmission to remain stable during operation and absorb vibration.
The integrated battery on this electric bike is embedded in the downtube protecting it from rain, wind, and humidity, and it gives the bike a more streamlined appearance.
Magicycle has done an amazing job at creating and building an elegant-looking bike without sacrificing quality and performance. Even though this electric bike looks beautiful it is still lightweight and quick.
The Magicycle Step-Over Lightweight Commuter E-Bike is a single-speed class 1 electric bike.

The first thing that you might think this bike is lacking is power, but that’s not really the case here. The 350W motor might seem a little underpowered for this bike but it isn’t, the bike performs amazingly well, and even though the bike has no derailleur, no gears, and is a single-speed, these things don’t seem to have an effect on performance.
The 7Ah battery might also be a concern for some riders but you don’t need to worry about that since the motor is 350W it won’t eat up a lot of power.
Another thing about this bike that won’t be for everyone are the handlebars. They might be a bit low and forward-leaning for some riders which can cause the rider to experience fatigue a lot faster.
This step-over commuter bike doesn’t come with a ton of features, but it does come with 5 levels of pedal assist, fenders, a rear cargo rack, and a taillight that is removable.
The Magicycle Step-Over Lightweight Commuter E-Bike is a really great-looking electric bike that honestly does not look like an electric bike and it’s reasonably priced. The unique belt drive is whisper quiet and won’t require much maintenance at all. The seat that comes with this bike is a bit small for some riders but it is easy to replace it with one that is right for you.
All-in-all, if you’re wanting an e-bike that is perfect for city riding and commuting and performs amazingly well, and just simply does not look like an electric bike then the Magicycle Step-Over Lightweight Commuter E-Bike might just be what you’re looking for.
